DIY Cowboy Switch

One day at the Aspac office.

Javy and his DIY cowboy switch

JAVY: (With his cute smile) "Please make me a Cowboy head, arms, and pants, no body okay?"
ME:  "Okay, get me a pen and paper"

After 45 seconds...

JAVY: "Here"
ME: Okay.
(I started creating the face...)

JAVY: "He should have a big hat... And his eyes should be have only, like this" (Javy covers half of his eyes)
ME:  "Okay, what else?"
JAVY: "Oh he should have a moustache"
ME:  "okay"
JAVY:  "Don't create the body, just the head, arms, and legs"
ME:"Okay"

After a few minutes of office hours...

ME: "Yay, it's done!"
JAVY: "Can you please cut it?"
ME: "Okay, but first I need a kiss!"

JAVY: "Okay"

Art in the Future Market

It was my first time to visit 98B's Future Market in Escolta. (I know, i know it took a while, I'm busy okay! :) )  We have a passion project coming up details on this soon. :) So we went there to look at the place and took some photos. Of course I wasn't able to stop myself from looking and admiring works from awesome artists there! And I ended up spending more than what I'm supposed to. haha

Fist stop was Ardie Aquino's Eddie comic. I like it because first it is a one off, second it was funny, and most of all because the illustration is cute! :) You can check out his fb page here. The 24 page comic costs Php 70, and some smaller ones are Php 30 I think.

Fan mode on! Ardie Aquino Comics
Next stop is Hapiwasabi by Karen Versoza. :) I love her minimalist style these postcards are sold for Php50/ea and the black and white print for Php 30. :) She also has framed pieces that are priced at Php300 and up. I plan to frame these postcards and post it on my wall for inspiration.

The artist signing her print. :)

I love the simplicity of this illustration.

And Cheryl Owen I love her work and so spot on the future market's theme of sorbetes.
I bought her digital print for Php200. You can also buy her original artwork for 4k.

Overall my first Future Market is awesome! I love the artist vibe and the entrepreneurial spirit.
Which made me think of selling some of my own stuff too! :)

I didn't stay too long because it was so hot! The sorbetes theme made me crave for Big Scoop ice cream, which luckily was just a few steps away from 98B.

Dispelling the Myth of the Starving Artist

I chanced upon this feature video at COL Financial featuring Marina Cruz. She is an artist and also an investor, who says the two can't mix?! She and her husband are both artists with 2 kids.
I really love her story, I just have to share it! You can watch her story below.

Fishy Hand Lettering

Since its Lenten season, we decided to sell some daing na bangus (Milkfish Marinated in Vinegar and Garlic). The bangus was ordered in Pangasinan (the place is known for its tasty bangus products.) So it was my task to create the sign "Daing na Bangus for sale". It was a good thing I studied hand lettering in college! I made the Bangus lettering into a fish so the passers by will easily recognize what we are selling.

Time to sharpen my hand lettering skills. I used speedball india ink and a brushpen to do this, it took me about an hour to finish.

We also have homegrown tomatoes, which my dad takes care of.
I can't wait for these to ripen and partner with the daing na bangus! :)
