My Viral Video
This is my viral doodle video! niyahaha Did this doodle way back in 2009. And until now i'm still wishing for a cintiq! :) when will this dream come true!
Perry the Parrot
Perry the Parrot, this was from a character game design study. But sadly this is not the final parrot that was approved in the game. But this is the parrot that gets published on my blog niyahaha! Perry is an artist from Brazil, he loves to paint nuts because that's his favorite food! He loves to use bright colors. (I really don't know why?! wink wink Perry stop looking at the mirror!) Maybe i will post the rest of the animals I created after the game is published, so stay tuned! :)

The details ate up most of my free time this week! But i really love the outcome of this piece. To have the shadow effect, i concentrated more dots on the shadow where I think the darkest part would hit (under the feathers, eye & beak). Inked the artwork after the gouache dried up. This took a while have i told you that patience is a virtue? :)

You should be working!
Decided to illustrate a slice of life from my work.
This is how I think my boss looks like when he caught me browsing my facebook o slacking off at work! :)
It really bothers me when someone is hovering when i'm working, the feeling of being watched is creepy.

Did the sketching and inking on a different day, and coloring took about 2 hours. DETAILS: Did the base painting first, then added the shadows, to create depth i used a darker color and did the poitilism technique both on the watercolor & with the ink. I can't stress this enough "patience is a virtue!":))

Gracey
I was so excited to create this portrait illustration for a dear friend of mine Gracey Ighut. You can check out her works here. This took me about 4hrs to finish.
Here is the initial pencil sketch. I always make it a point to do an initial sketch before i make an illustration. This helps me layout & study the piece.

After sketching I added the first coating of watercolor. I blocked all the spaces in the illustration and added the value and shadows after. I always start from light to dark shades mainly because it is easier to darken the painting afterwards than lift up the lighter values.

I intensified the red more and added the details.

Here is my workspace! I always have a tissue nearby to absorb excess water on the painting.

And here is the finished piece! :)

The Owl (Fussyket partner)
The fussyket would be so lonely without her owl. So I created this coffee owl to accompany her. :) I like the way this turned out, especially the coffee cup element. I can so relate to Mr. Owl's caffeine boost! since we have the same big eyes and because i stayed up from 6pm to 6am the previous day to finish a freelance storyboard illustration (even though i only did the coloring stuff).

Made using watercolor on paper. This was done on intervals, created the base colors and added the details last week, i was just too busy to post this before. :( Added a somewhat pointilism effect for the detail, for the leaves I used 2-3 different shades of green.

Celebrate Art Exhibit
Awesome! One of my artwork was exhibited at the Pocket Universe Art Collective in saGuijo Makati Yay!
This was a contest with the most number of likes in facebook. Thanks to all my family, friends, and relatives who liked it! Truly there is strength in numbers! :)

The gallery pocket universe is on the second floor of Saguijo Bar + Cafe adjacent to the Snow Tattoo Shop (Tattoo designs are by Sarah Gaugler!). Anyway back to the gallery, it is a small cozy room, what made it really cool was the black painted walls that made the artworks stnd out. :)

The entry I submitted was the first watercolor painting i did this year! you can check out the detals of my artwork here.

I want to give a BIG hug and thank you to all the people who came. It was very heartwarming to see people appreciate art. (especially if you made it!) :)

Meow | pussycat illustration
This was one of the many sketches I made for a project. Too bad this cat was not chosen in the final stages of the poster I was making. So I made a promise to myself that this cat sketch will see the light of day! hehe So this Saturday morning I decided to paint my cat. The style was inspired by Maurice Sendak's classic children's story "Where the wild things are". And behold my masterpiece! :) Around 15 mins to sketch and ink and about an hour to color. happy rainy weekend everyone.
